Wedding Box Card

It's been awhile, but I have been making a few things!!!

This last week I decided to make the amazing wedding box card I have had saved in my favourites for ages from the very talented Julia Tomoiaga's blog (if you click on her name it will take you to her wedding box card). I have a client at work who is getting married next weekend and as I was calling in to his place on Friday just been, to pick up some information I needed, I thought I could use his upcoming wedding as an excuse to make one.  I must say I absolutely loved the way it turned out, one of the few things I am truely happy with the end product.

So here are some pic's and I will warn you there are lots, as it was hard knowing how to photograph it.

Firstly the outside.......

The colour doesn't show up too well, but the green is actually a nice bright lime green.  With the help from one of my workmates, I learnt how to use txt boxes in Word to write the names in and then be able to move them around to sit nicely in the love-heart spellbinders die cut.  The lace around the lid edge is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Then you take the lid off and te-da.......

It falls open as above, but what you can't see above is that.......

its actually got a 2 layer wedding cake in side, (well a paper wedding cake that is) how cool is that!!!! The papers I used are a digital papers from Rosey Posey Studios called "Blessing Papers" and are absolutely gorgeous, so thanks to Julia for putting the link in on her blog.

A close-up of the cake, the flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts, the leaves are from Prima, the gold ribbon is from our local craft store Artful Crafts.

I repeated the bow and flower arrangements on the other side of the cake as well, which you can just see a peek of in the above photo.  The left panel frame is cut using spellbinder dies and their foil paper.  The florish is a Magnolia die, it has wee hearts on it which is soo appropriate for a wedding card don't you think.

Again I used the txt box method in Word to create the saying, which is a copy from Julia's card but I really loved it!!!  I used a Spellbinders die and inked the edges then stickled the edges heaps with Rangers Diamond Dust Stickles.  The butterfly is my large Martha Stewart Butterfly punch on the Spellbinders foil.

This side has the cool Cherry Lynn large heart die on in, which doesn't stand out so much in this photo, and I have lightly inked the edges.

The above die is another Cherry Lyn Doily die with 3 Prima flowers attached.  I made the mistake of cutting the inner circle out with a Spellbinder die afterwards, but when I ran it through my cuttlebug it flattened out the imprint of the doily die, so I had to very carefully put it back into the doily die and run it through the cuttlebug again, lesson learnt on that!!!

The wedding picture is from Lily of the Valley and is one of their preprinted die cut cards as I didn't have time to colour an image in, these die cut prints are really gorgeous and time saving as well.

And so did my client like it..........

Well yes!!!! Yippee!!!! My client is actually the groom and he was going to leave opening it until his fiance got home, but I talked him into having a wee peak, and he was soooo surprised and impressed to see what was inside, it's always fun watching people's reactions, sooo I went away very happy that it was a success as you are never sure if someone is going to like what you have made for them.

Well this is a very very long blog post, I hope I haven't bored you all toooo much (must be making up for not blogging for awhile).  I would just like to thank Julia for sharing her Wedding Card with us as otherwise I would never have known how to make one and I will definitely be making another one soon. Thanks again Julia!!!!

A Friend's Birthday Card

Sadly our long weekend draws to an end, hope you all got lots done, not me :( I have had a very lazy weekend all my plans went out the window for some reason!!!!

Today I have for you a card I made out at our Raincliff Scrap Camp back in August for Bo (who actually had a helping hand in its making as I was sitting beside her, so Bo was my sounding board for my ideas, at least I knew she was going to like it :) )

This is my first real attempt at using my Spectrum Noir pens and I was very slow at the colouring, but on the whole pretty happy with the result! The stamped image is from Lily of the Valley called Best Friends sooo cute (but then they all are!!!)

A few close ups, I think I followed a layout of one of my favourite card makers Bev Rochester

The Spectrum Noir pens are new on the market and are available at Crafters Companion from the UK, they had an awesome special release price which came to only $NZ2.00 each so I had to get the whole set for that price, in comparision the Copic Sketch pens cost approx $NZ8-10.00 each you can see why it was a no brainer :)

The papers are from Magnolia which I also love such pretty delicate patterns.

The circle die is from Cheery Lyn and is the French Pastry Die and my personalised stamp fits perfectly in the middle.

Glentui & Steph Devlin

Hi there

A few weeks ago Dianne & I ventured up to Glentui to Scrappin' Patch's Retreat where we were spoilt rotten with lots of goodies and had the very talented Steph Devlin teaching us two classes Steph also made us a self paced kit along with another one we could purchase if we wanted. I must admit I hadn't seen any of Steph's work before I went to this retreat but I loved it all, she does lovely girlie girlie stuff which is soooo me!!! :)

The first class on Friday night was an off the page canvas sponsored by Websters' Pages and Imaginarium Designs Chipboard which was very cool, there was also lots and lots of left over goodies for us to use at home!!!

Here is my canvas, note there is supposed to be a photo in the middle but I didn't like the ones I had with me so am still deciding what photo to put in!!! Arrrrgh the decisions!!!!

The Eiffel Tower and frame are very delicate and look much better in real life!!! They are painted with gesso which was very thick, sooo lots of blowing the gesso out of the tiny holes!!!!

Cute Cupcakes

Hope you haven't given up on me, I see it has been 3 months since I last made a post, very naughty of me and I do have lots to share, so will try to be more pro-active in blogging.

This weekend as South Canterbury's anniversary weekend, so no work tomorrow yippee!!! :)

Yesterday at about midday Rach phoned to say she was all ready to do the cupcake course we purchased from the UK, which was all good except I hadn't made my cupcakes at that stage YIKES!!!!

So after a mad panic rush to get my 2dzn cupcakes made, an hour and half later I was at Rach's all ready to go, here are how they turned out.....

Not bad don't you think????  Well I think they are really cool as I haven't played with fondant icing before, not sure how they will taste, but as long as they look good eh.

The flowers were all handmade and a few improvisions had to be made as we didn't quite have all the right tools. But scrapbooking does come in handy, if you look closely at the middle cupcake in bottom row above you can see it is embossed, Rachels cuttlebug folders worked a treat!!!

So that was how we spent yestderday afternoon!!! I soon got sick of the taste of icing, I guess you shouldn't lick your fingers clean, but I was getting tired of getting up to the sink all the time!!!

Well hopefully I will get some more pic's of my other creations on here for you soon.

2 More Non Fussy Cards!!!

Since my previous card was soooo easy and quick to make I thought I would make another two up as I had the images already coloured waiting to go.

So here are my next two versions of my non fussy card.......

This card is using Bo Bunny's Midnight Frost paper, the solid blue squares have twinklets around the outside edges as does the picture and the dusty attic snowflake.

This card is made using the Kaiser Lilac Avenue Collection papers, Wild Orchid Flowers and Hat Pins.

The large snowflake is made from using a Spellbinder snowflake die and covering it with twinklets.  The twinklets sparkle soooo much in the sun or under lights they are way cool!!!

It is hard to tell from this photo but this paper comes with the damask patterned already glittered up, sooo cool!

And the backs.......

I never used to cover the backs, but since I got my stamp to go on the back's of the cards I feel it sort of needs it,  I added a few extra snowflake emblishments to the above (there were already snowflakes on the paper so I was just enhancing them lol).

This one has one of the gorgeous Cherry Lyn Doily dies framing my stamp.

I am amazed at how just changing the papers has made all three cards so very very different.  I love the simplicity of this card style.

Non Fussy Card Challenge!!!

The other weekend Rachel bet me that I couldn't make a "Non Fussy Card" so I took her up on that to prove I could, and here is what I achieved.......

This is based on a card I spotted on someone's blog (sorry cannot remember who's), which  I thought looked simple and straight forward enough for me to do quickly (just took a few hours which is really fast for me) and I thought was non fussy but apparently Rachel's and my definition of non fussy are quite different!!! :)

The image is from Lily of the Valley Stamps and she is a delight to colour, I stickled her wings, tiera, and the flower centres.

The paper comes out of a Nic Howard Kit I never completed, they were a bit bright for me!!!  But I do like how the card came out in the end.  Lots of distressing the paper edges!!!! This is were all my time went!

The flowers are a  combination of Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts, I love it when different company's flowers match perfectly!
